Palabras clave Goffman - Justiça Restaurativa - Círculo de Construção de Paz - Subjetividade ABSTRACT THE PEACEMAKING CIRCLE AS A PROPOSAL FOR (RE)ENCOUNTER WITH THE SELF: AN EXPERIENCE WITH MEN IN DEPRIVATION OF LIBERTY This article aims to promote the debate about the subjective impacts caused by deprivation of liberty and also, to present prison as a total and enabling institution of the mortification process of the self, according to Erving Goffman (1974). Therefore, this work also aims to articulate restorative justice through peacemaking circles as a possibility of encounters and reencounters with the singularity that is constantly attacked by the institutional model. Circular processes were developed with 35 men in deprivation of liberty in a penitentiary located in Londrina, state of Paraná, south of Brazil. The work was able to document contributions in the process of effective social reintegration, as well as powerful results regarding (re)encounters with the self and others in a respectful, inclusive, and restorative proposal.
