La clínica winnicottiana es definida como un espacio donde dos personas juegan juntas. Para ello, es necesario que el paciente sea capaz de usar al analista en la experiencia transferencial de ocupar diferentes posiciones objetales a lo largo del proceso analítico. Una de ellas, crucial para la emergencia del verdadero sí mismo, es la vivencia de destructividad que habilita a la confianza y a la usabilidad del análisis y del propio analista. Proceso nunca sencillo que involucra la potencial destrucción y la necesaria supervivencia. Sin este pasaje, la creatividad no tiene posibilidad de manifestarse, ni que el paciente pueda habitar el mundo de manera personal. La capacidad de ser usado involucra tanto la presencia del analista, sus silencios e interpretaciones como la capacidad de jugar al juego del paciente. Es a partir de aquí que el análisis se convierte en un espacio transicional y el paciente en alguien que es capaz de asumir el riesgo de crear.
