Introducción: La llamada “Revolución Cognitiva” ha sido promulgada por diversos autores como un cambio radical en las concepciones teóricas que hasta ese momento se tenían en la psicología estadounidense. Estamos hablando, por supuesto, del paradigma conductual. En este sentido, hay autores que plantean que la psicología y la ciencia cognitiva dieron una estocada de muerte al conductismo resultando este en un paradigma obsoleto. Aun así, hay una postura divergente que afirma que es posible recuperar planteos de diversos autores conductistas que daban cuenta de la necesidad de enfocarse en variables intermedias entre el par estímulo-respuesta. Objetivos: Identificar constructos teóricos dentro del campo del conductismo que se refieran a cuestiones del orden de la cognición o a las llamadas variables intermedias. Analizar qué rupturas y qué continuidades hay entre el conductismo y la psicología cognitiva. Conclusiones: Si bien hay ciertos matices y diferencias entre el conductismo y la psicología cognitiva, constituye un error histórico y teórico postular un cambio absolutamente radical entre ambos paradigmas a la manera que lo propone Gardner. Son varios los autores conductistas, por ejemplo Tolman, que han impulsado ideas para abrir la conocida “caja negra” del conductismo e introducir variables intermedias sin abandonar su paradigma de origen. Even so, there a divergent position that affirms that it is possible to recover proposals from different authors behaviorists who realized the need to focus on variables intermediate between the stimulus-response pair. Objectives: Identify theoretical constructs within the field of behaviorism that refer to questions of the order of cognition or to the so-called intermediate variables. Analyze what breaks and what continuities there are between the behaviorism and cognitive psychology. Conclusions: yes Although there are certain nuances and differences between behaviorism and cognitive psychology, It is a historical and theoretical error to postulate an absolutely radical change between the two paradigms in the way that Gardner proposes.
