Resumen
We propose an examination of the imprints and microsociology of the public space of the La Ribera neighborhood of Villa Mercedes (San Luis) based on the three notions of Isaac Joseph: the foreigner, the public and the circumstances in anthropology of inhabited space. It describes the foreigner in an intermediate position between the community and society, fluctuating between strong and weak ties. In the cities, in the neighborhood, it is in the public space where the unforeseen, the urban, the contradictory, the absurd appear. Socially constructed, cities are places where expressive and communicational phenomena take place and a way of understanding it has to do with the experience of inhabiting it. The La Ribera neighborhood located 8 kilometers south of the center of Villa Mercedes (San Luis) in Argentina, was inaugurated on April 19, 2003 and occupies an approximate area of 350 hectares with more than twenty thousand inhabitants in the context of this essay.
