Este artículo revisa diferentes aportes de la literatura psicoanalítica en torno al tema de la eficacia del psicoanálisis e intenta dar cuenta de la importancia del tema en el momento actual. El psicoanálisis no queda exceptuado de responder a las preguntas por su eficacia. ¿Cómo lo hace? Desde Freud en adelante el problema ha dado lugar a una amplia literatura. No olvidemos por ejemplo, la polémica con Ferenczi. También hay referencias al tema en Lacan. Podemos situar hoy, básicamente, dos posiciones contrapuestas. Una, perteneciente a la escuela de ULM, la más importante en el mundo anglosajón, que busca dar validación empírica a las proposiciones clínicas del psicoanálisis a partir de cuestionarios tanto a terapeutas como a pacientes, con escalas de clasificación e incluso con la introducción de análisis computarizado de los textos. La otra, que plantea la importancia de abordar el tema con los métodos y condiciones propias del psicoanálisis, planteando la especificidad de sus metas y de sus modos de validación. Resumen en Inglés The effectiveness of the analysis: importance and current state of the topic. This article revises different contributions in the psychoanalytical literature around the topic of the effectiveness of the psychoanalysis, as well as it intends to refer the importance of the topic in the current moment. The psychoanalysis is required to give an answer about his efficacy. Since Freud up today, the problem of the effectiveness has given place to a wide literature, among other, Freud's polemics with Ferenczi. Also Lacan introduces references to the topic. Today, we can situate, principally, two opposed positions. One, belonging to the school of ULM, the most important in the Anglo-Saxon world, that looks for to give empiric validation to the clinical propositions of the psychoanalysis, employing questionnaires so much to therapists as to patient, with classification scales and even with the introduction of computer analysis of the texts. The other position that look for an approaching to topic with methods and conditions characteristic of the psychoanalysis, outlining the specificity of its goals and in its validation ways.
